Is there anything more romantic than a sky salted with stars?
County night sky enthusiast – and local newspaper scribe and photographer – Ramesh Pooran will focus your attention on the stars and planets, the Milky Way and the occasional satellite. With the help of a provided telescope, you might see Jupiter and Saturn, the crescent moon, as well as nebulae, star clusters and galaxies.
To help keep the dark sky truly dark, cover your flashlight with red plastic. (Regular flashlights interfere with your night vision.)
Bring binoculars and dress warmly, with layers and sturdy footwear, as you would for a hike.
