Waupoos

Derived from the Ojibwe word ‘waabooz’ or ‘rabbit,’ Waupoos is one of many small communities that were originally called “Fifth Town,” now the namesake of the local cheesemakers. This eastern arm of The County is apple country and boasts a variety of pick-your-own lakeside fruit farms, sunflower fields and vineyards reaching out to the water’s edge. A full “horn trip” takes you out to the point from Cape Vessey, to Cressy, Prinyer’s Cove and back to the mysterious natural phenomenon that is Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park. The Glenora Ferry can be seen from the park shuttling travelers (for free!) further east along the Loyalist Parkway towards Kingston. No shortage of stunning Lake Ontario views here.
