Councillor John Hirsch
Visit The County Board Member
Prince Edward County Council Representative
Throughout his career John has given back to his community through involvement in residents’ associations, charities and non-profit boards of directors. His commitment to environmental sustainability is demonstrated by his successful individual appeal to the Environmental Tribunal Review of the wpd White Pines project. John lives in the County with his spouse Helene Tremblay. John and Helene are avid gardeners and birders. Their seven rescued cats enjoy their own protected accommodations on the property.
After a career in Canada Customs, international trade consulting firms, purchasing, and the logistics industry, John moved with his wife to The County. For 3 years he works part-time at the Home Depot in Belleville as a way to ease into retirement.
Now, fully retired from the paid working world, John has devoted his energies and passion to community organizations, focusing primarily on the environment and conservation, and mostly with respect to our beautiful, unique South Shore.
John has served as Councillor for Ward 9 – South Marysburgh since 2018. During his tenure he has represented on the Environmental Advisory Committee, Prince Edward Heritage Advisory Committee, Audit Committee, and the interim DMO board, before being nominated to serve as the Council Representative on the inaugural DMO board through the end of this term of Council.
