Prince Edward County Trip Planning: The COVID-19 Edition
As the province of Ontario re-opens and travel slowly becomes a thing again, here’s some advice if you’re planning to spend some time in Prince Edward County anytime soon. Pack appropriately (see below), do your homework and keep the following top of mind:
Tip #1 – Your PEC vacation packing list should include a mask, hand sanitizer and oodles of patience. Masks are now mandatory when stepping inside any indoor space that is open to the public or any Farmers’ Market in Prince Edward County. We’re all adjusting to a new reality and hiccups, lineups, mix-ups are bound to happen. Be patient and be kind. Everyone is doing their best.
Tip #2 – Call ahead, call ahead, call ahead. Contact your host, favourite restaurant or tasting room to see if they’re open, what they’ve got on offer, and if a reservation is needed.
Tip #3 – You’ll see all kinds of signage in stores, parking lots, restaurants, washrooms and more. They’re posted to keep everyone safe. Please respect any posted (or in-person) instructions and directions that are being given.
Tip #4 – Keep your distance while out and about. 2 metres is still the minimum distance. Wash your hands and please, wear a mask.
Tip #5 – If you’re feeling unwell or showing any symptoms, please postpone your visit and come back when you’re in tip top shape.
Tip #6 – Register with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health by signing their digital guestbook and providing contact info in the event that Public Health needs to get in touch. This is a voluntary process.
Remember, we’re all figuring this out as we go. Please be patient and respectful to one another, residents and front line staff who are doing their best. Oh, and don’t litter. Do your part to keep our beautiful slice clean and green.
